Dr. Jeffery Newell

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Jeffery Newell is a licensed clinical psychologist with a broad range of experience in both clinical practice and research. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007 and completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern California (USC) in 2021. He completed his predoctoral internship at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and a postdoctoral fellowship at USC’s counseling center from 2022 to 2024. Dr. Newell was also part of the USC Games Initiative Program from 2013-2020, where he learned about interactive media and game design from some of the top developers and designers in the world.

As a scientist, Dr. Newell specializes in evaluating the adaptation of digital media for psychological intervention strategies. As a clinician, he utilizes an integrative approach, combining techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Mindfulness, and Exposure therapies. This approach is tailored to meet each client’s unique needs and preferences.

Dr. Newell has worked in diverse clinical and research settings, including community clinics, Veterans Affairs hospital systems, and college counseling centers. His varied educational and professional training experiences enable him to bring a versatile and multifaceted perspective to his work.
